Biography

Tibor Mercks (Amsterdam, 1997) is a film composer, music producer and DJ based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He completed a Bachelor's degree in Music & Technology at HKU in 2023, where he built a strong foundation in electronic music and music production before discovering his passion for composing for screen. This led to an internship and later a freelance position at MassiveMusic, where he composed for brands including ING and ZDF, and contributed to the Swiss TV series Tschugger II (2022, dir. David Constantin & Johannes Bachmann).

As an independent composer, Tibor has written music for films including Lost Fathers (2023, dir. Shahab Albonaser) and Alles Over Hoop (2026, dir. Davey Driessen & Martijn van Monsjou). During his studies, he also scored the short films De Hemel is Gesmolten (2025), Red Harvest (2025), The Dream (2026), Niet Lekker in mijn Vel (2026) and Blood Will Tell (2026, dir. Chadim M'Bodji). The Dream, Blood Will Tell and Niet Lekker in mijn Vel were selected for the Netherlands Film Festival Student Competition, and Blood Will Tell received the Keep an Eye Filmscore Award 2026.

With a background in electronic music and production, Tibor explores storytelling through timbre and the interplay between acoustic and electronic sound worlds. In 2026, he completed a Master's in Composing for Film at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he further developed his orchestration skills and experience writing for live orchestra, shaping a distinctive voice that moves fluidly between intimate acoustic scores, hybrid electroacoustic textures and orchestral writing.
